Dubai Cares Education Walk 2010

The Cookie Workshop.ae is excited to be part of Dubai Cares Education Walk on Friday, 26th November 2010 at Jumeirah Beach Park  from 10am till 11.30am. We will be holding a FREE Cookie Workshop - Decorating with Royal Icing for the young participants after the walk. Based on a 'first come, first ice' basis. Come decorate your hand cookie in the colors of Dubai Cares! Limited cookies available.

Personalised Cookie Lollies Bouquets for your Loved Ones

The cookie lolly fun just jumped up another notch! What better way to say "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations" to someone you care about than with a bouquet. Only our bouquets can be eaten too. Gives new meaning to the saying - You can have your 'cookie' and eat it too!

Halloween's Coming!!!

Criminey Jeepers!! Its HALLOWEEN!!!! Orange and Black and Icky Green never looked more appealing. and of course, it wouldn't be Halloween without them ghoul-y ghosts! I got in the Trick 'O Treat mood and jumped on the wagon and look at what came out of the workshop today! TA-DAAAA

Still cant get my haunted house  right, so I'll add those in later when they're done :) AAAaaahhhHHhhh.. my brain juice is doing its magic these days! M lovin' it! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

Codename - Purple Flower

My sister sent me an invite to her darling daughter,  Atia's 1st birthday party. IN Singapore. Since Santa haven't send me Nour's & my return tix yet, we'll be there in another way instead. Thus commenced "The Purple Flower Party" project. Colors make me happy, as Barney would sing it. And indeed, we LOVE the color purple.

Here's a preview of what's done so far today*. The cookies will be shipped off to Singapore by tomorrow and I pray all 60pcs of them will reach there safe (and intact)... considering the tons of bubble wrap I just got at Ace, specially for this one very special event :) Mr. Postman, please be careful with my fragile care package, k!  Thank you :)

Its been one exciting week. A challenge one after the other. I must admit, now that our new home has been secured for next year (YAY!!) , I could deal with just about anything. including icing shadows on a logo on personalised cookies. Took me a couple of nights of working out the kinks but in the words (& happy dance) of Dora the Explorer - WE DID IT!!!

and so the fun begins of creating something for a client for THEIR client. :)  We hope the meeting went well. Last I got an sms with the following msg -

"Cookies look great! U did a fantastic job! I will recommend for sure. Thanks for everything"  - MM

Finding Nemo

I had myself a challenge to meet last week. A request for fishes and nemo came up. Who am I to turn down a challenge?! The adrenalin pump was a welcome after the long summer break. I say challenge not for the artwork, but mainly for the speed that this special customer wanted her cookies done by. Each cookie was tied to a birthday party invite.. sort've as a preview of what the party theme was about! It was a mad rush for me, but I just want to give a shout out of thanks to my hubs for helping with a teething and cranky baby.  Time was moving so fast, I was amazed I got it done in time. I hope all her guests enjoy the cookies & themselves at the pool party this coming thursday *wink*

The Cookie Workshop.ae's Kitchen Re-Opens for more celebrations

EID MUBARAK!!! Wow! What a summer!!! We took an extra long break this summer in Morocco, in a small town where not one oven was in sight and not a kitchen was readily available for me to whip something up, and the internet connection left to be desired (I think I saw a garden slug move faster). so it was REALLY a 'step back' (from work and in time) and relax time for me. But boy oh boy.. am I all charged up to crank up the oven and start whipping up more goodies for YOU!


It is the month of Syawal now in the Islamic calendar, a month of celebration after a full month of Ramadhan where the Muslims had observed fasting from sunrise  to sunset. A week has since passed (Ok, I've missed the first few days of main celebration) but I'm psyched to bake up some goodies and share them with our friends here. Never too late to celebrate. It IS for the full month!

As soon as this jetlag passes over, LET THE BAKING (re-)COMMENCE!!!

THANK YOU for a wonderful month!

Woaaahhh.. May zoomed faster than a speeding bullet. There were sleepless nights (for many a good cause BUT of course!), there were quiet days (but many playtime) with Baby Noury, there were artistic challenges, and there was that pile of ironing that needed to get done! HAH! But I did it. I recently found  a long-sleeved shirt for Nour at a Debenham's sale that said- My mom is a SUPERWOMAN! I think that says it all (I'd like to think so anyways). 


Here's a rundown of what The Cookie Workshop.ae have been up to in May. Lets walk backwards, shall we :)  -

WORKSHOPS
We got the ball rolling with our first cookie workshop on 21 May  - Cookie Decorating with Royal Icing. Catch the pics in our Facebook group page. I had NEVER laughed so hard at a workshop EVER! The ladies  (all 10 of them) were a great bunch. I hope everybody had a blast.


CHARITY SUPPORT
We were happy to receive a call from the Children Hope Foundation again. They requested a bundle of wonderful big red hearts to say thank you to some wonderful people supporting the Foundation. I couldn't say No to our wonderful friends at CHF and here's what I got done. I hope everybody enjoyed their hearts :)

CHARACTERS

I was in need of a challenge (YUP! I declare! I'm nuts!). Doing characters are the one thing I can call challenge cos you'd have to draw WITH icing like you'd use a fine-tip pen. Sugar ain't ink, I tell you that!

and so.. my stubborn self chose to do a full Spiderman picture. Then I realised (just in time too!) that I must be mad to want to draw spidey ON a cookie cos that darn character got like a million lines on him! haha.. and so here's how Spidey turned out -

Managed to do one Doreamon, Spongebob Squarepants & Tweety the Bird. Check out the pictures in our Facebook group :)  Go on! 

What a Character!

Here's some of the characters that are done so far. Notice these are done on our sugar cookies. But they can also be on your celebration cake as well - just to give you an idea! *wink wink*

Off to Malaysia we go..

Personalising cookies seem to be our latest hits! Here's what one dear customer wanted to surprise her family & friends with on her trip back to Malaysia -

One petal on each flower was personalised with each loved one's name. I sure hope everyone enjoys them.

These special character cookies goes to one special friend, she said. Hope our Superman cookie lollies brings a smile to this special person's face. :)

Summer on the horizon

The heat is ON! The heat is ON ON!!! Yup, they call it Spring, but I say its Summer in disguise! Time to find ways to 'cool off' in this mad mad heat!  Here's what we recommend -

Minnie's in the House!

A dear friend wanted a Minnie Mouse cake for her sweet daughter turning 6 today !  I couldnt resist and said Yes, I'll do it! I didnt want to go OTT but went the simple but sweet route instead. This is the result. I hope dear Salma loves her cake! She loves vanilla and the colors pink and purple :)  aaawwwww....

2 brothers. adorable as heck. One 11 years old. one 1 year old. A moist milk chocolate chip cake with a simple chocolate fudge frosting. Iced fishes. Blue waves. hhhmmmmm...Enjoy boys!!!
